There remains a threat of cyber attack throughout this year. Check Point Research (CPR), a research organization working on cyber attacks, said that this number will be higher than last year. Generally, legitimate software used in daily activities will be targeted for cyber attacks.

Cyber attacks will increase this year
Cyber attacks will increase

CPR has released a report named Security Report 2023. Mentioning these, three types of observations have been mentioned there. According to the report, the number of hacktivism will increase in 2023. Hacktivism is usually organized for a political or social movement. The report mentions apprehensions that hacktivism without state sponsorship will increase in 2023 than before.

Ransomware cyber attacks may become more difficult to detect this year. Relying on detection of encryption activity will make existing security mechanisms less effective. In addition, hackers will focus on data erasure and exfiltration (transferring data by infiltrating computer systems through malware or malicious programs).

Cyber attacks on cloud-based networks will increase. The report states that the trend of keeping information from one's own servers or systems in the cloud has created a wide range for cybercriminals. Criminals will target legitimate programs on computer or network systems. Meanwhile, ChatGap has been attacked by Russian cyber criminals.

According to the report, there has been a 38 percent increase in cyber attacks in 2022 as compared to last year. This time the risk of attack is high.
